Absa Bank Kenya has relocated its Gilgil branch to a larger and more strategically positioned location to enhance customer experience and expand access to financial services.

This is part of the Bank’s broad-based strategy to drive financial inclusion, support economic growth, and deliver seamless banking solutions to the communities it serves.

For Moses Muthui, the Consumer Banking Director at Absa Bank Kenya, located on Gilgil-Nyahururu Road, the new branch marks a significant milestone, as the move reaffirms the lender’s commitment to enhancing financial accessibility and delivering customer-centric banking solutions that are responsive to the evolving needs of customers.

“This is a direct response to our customers’ feedback and a testament to our commitment to accessibility and economic empowerment. It also reinforces our brand promise of Your Story Matters while fulfilling the desires of our customers about their experiences and needs in their financial journeys,” Mr Muthui said on Thursday, March 6.

He added: “With Gilgil’s dynamic mining, agriculture, and hospitality sectors, this branch is well-positioned to drive growth for both consumers and SMEs, spurring growth in the region.”

It will cater to both individuals and businesses in the Gilgil region, which has a population of approximately 80,079, according to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census. Gilgil serves as a significant commercial hub in Nakuru County, known for its diatomite mining, agricultural production, and tourist attractions like the Kariandusi Prehistoric site.

“We are committed to empowering unbanked and underserved communities through innovative branch services, agency banking, and digital platforms, while ensuring seamless experience anytime, anywhere,” Muthui explained.

As part of its ongoing network expansion strategy, Absa Bank Kenya opened branches in Kamakis and Rupa’s Mall in Eldoret last year, in addition to relocating the Migori and Imaara Mall branches to enhance service delivery.

Under its commitment to supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the region, Absa has hosted entrepreneurs during the Wezesha Biashara Caravan last year, in an effort to empower them to scale and grow their businesses.

“By moving closer to our customers, we aim to provide unmatched financial solutions that meet their evolving needs. With this move, we also commit to empowering the community socially, economically and environmentally through our recently launched Absa Kenya Foundation,” Muthui said.
