XRP Healthcare, a pioneering force in healthcare innovation, has acquired Pharma Ville, a retail and wholesale pharmacy chain in Uganda.
The acquisition will enable XRP to implement strategies that will ensure it remains relevant to dynamic needs of the African market. The healthcare company with roots from the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, will offer comprehensive healthcare services to more Ugandans countrywide.
According to Kain Roomes, CEO of XRP Healthcare, Uganda’s pharmaceutical landscape presents immense potential that by integrating Pharma Ville, delivery of impact can be immediate, thereby improving access to essential medicines and optimizing healthcare delivery.

Roomes said XRP is strategically positioned to capitalize on Africa’s healthcare market that is projected to reach $259 billion by 2030, and the digital health segment encompassing AI-driven solutions expected to grow to $16.6 billion.
Pharma Ville plays a pivotal role in Uganda’s healthcare sector as it works closely with the National Medical Stores (NMS) and Joint Medical Stores (JMS) to ensure a steady and reliable supply of essential medicines. It owns two retail pharmacies and five wholesale distribution centers across Uganda.
XRP will specifically focus on integrating digital innovation with traditional pharmaceutical distribution as its bargain at revolutionizing healthcare delivery in emerging markets. This will lead to a streamlined pharmaceutical supply chain.
Richard Kitonsa (MPS), Founder and CEO of Pharma Ville commenting on this acquisition that will see Pharma Ville rebrand to XRP Healthcare by Q4 said, “Joining XRP Healthcare is transformative. We can now rapidly scale our operations, introduce innovative technologies, and better serve Uganda’s healthcare needs.”
As the XRP rolls out several healthcare options, it is also implementing numerous strategies that will ensure it serves dynamic business needs. Its XRPH AI app, a multilingual healthcare assistant, for example, is already live and integrated into Pharma Ville’s digital platform (www.pharmaville.ai).
The AI-driven tool provides medical guidance in Luganda, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, and English. At the same time, users will be able to upload images of medical conditions for AI-assisted preliminary assessments, with direct referrals to healthcare professionals for critical cases.
A strategic advisor to UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and now XRP Healthcare Mr peter Waswa said: “This acquisition strengthens Uganda’s healthcare sector, fosters economic growth, and introduces essential technologies to the industry. It’s a major step forward for healthcare accessibility in Uganda.”
Pharma Ville will undergo immediate operational upgrades, including: Advanced inventory management to optimize supply chains; Upgraded licensing to expand product offerings; Enhanced distribution channels for wider reach; Digital payment integration for seamless transactions; as well as New CRM systems to improve customer engagement.
Laban Roomes, COO of XRP Healthcare, revealed that they have spent significant time in Uganda developing the legal and operational frameworks necessary to scale this business rapidly. “We have done the groundwork laid for expansion within Uganda and our efforts will drive long-term improvements in healthcare accessibility.”
